International Conference on Global Ethics, Values and Mindfulness: A Quest for Happiness 2008
About this event: International Conference on Global Ethics, Values and Mindfulness: A Quest for Happiness 2008
Related to country: Nigeria

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

The first-ever international conference on Global Ethics, Values and Mindfulness: A Quest for Happiness was held in Jos, Plateau state, Nigeria. The conference brought together a community of diverse global and local leaders and guests to examine key issues on Ethics, Values and Mindfulness to help catalyze a shift in strengthening positive individual and societal development in Nigeria and the world at large.

Conference participants gathered for two days of in-depth discussions and presentations to investigate the pressing challenges that exist in making a commitment for personal and societal change. The conference provided participants with a global perspective and the knowledge, skills and tools to deal effectively with personal, interpersonal, and community needs. We met individuals that share a common vision for social change and make personal commitments to realize a better future.Group like Connect Betweenfoureyes, Project Happiness, The Dalai Lama Foundation , Teachers without boarders, Creative Minds International Academy etc.

There was active participation of youths, opinion shared and the group section was another area of learning from each other as sensitive issues bothering the Global ethics were discussed.

Though it was a first of it kind but was successful and well planned. Whatch out for the steps to be taken after the conference and there is plan to host the next May 2009 International Conference on Youth and Interfaith Communication. Try and join us to make the International conference on Youth and interfaith communication a success not just in but the world at large

Community Participation in Criminal Justice System Reformation
Related to country: Nigeria

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Dear Friends,

Several months ago, I submitted an application for the 2008 JusticeMakers Competition. In doing so, I joined a global community of legal aid lawyers, policemen, and NGO officers that had proposed solutions for curbing torture and legal abuse on a local level.

Last month, I received word that my application was one of a handful of proposals to be named a JusticeMakers Finalist. With your assistance, I now have a shot at winning $5,000 to implement my idea.

Here's how you can help.

1. Register for www.justicemakers.net.

2. Login and click "Browse Projects" on the left hand side of the page.

3. Browse or search for fujii, my JusticeMakers username, and click on it.

4. Click on the orange "Rate Me" icon that appears on the top of the page.

5. Read a short summary of my proposal and rate my project. (Preferably with five stars.)

That’s it! If, on November 13, I have the highest average rating of any project, I’ll win the $5,000 to implement my project. :)

Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you in advance for your help.
